EMPS # 43 : Seeing stars.

Carly of Ellipsis wanted to see stars, any kind of stars will do. I wanted to take shots of the stars at night but weather's not co-operating these few days . I managed to find one star I have at home. Bought in Kota Tinggi waterfall in Malaysia in year 2005, this STAR shaped key change has became a permanent fixture on my display cabinet .
It comes in variety of shapes, I first bought them to give away, but I changed my mind later on kept them on display in the living room.

This Coat of Arms was photographed at the gate of the Istana , the official residence of the President of Singapore, but it's used mostly for meeting of overseas delegates and occasional meetings of the ministers, since the President stayed in his own personal home. The Istana's ground is open for public viewing, together with the one part of the istana, during it's open house, a few times a year , but security is always very tight. Every visitor will be have to go to a metal detector and bags screened. No food and drinks allowed in too,at other ther time , it's strictly off limit to the public.

The coat of arms of Singapore was adopted in 1959, along with the other national symbols of Singapore. Using elements from the national flag, the coat of arms symbolises the current state and honours its cultural links with Malaysia. While the use of the coat of arms is restricted to the government bodies, the symbol enjoys wide use on the national currency, state decorations and appears on the cover of the national passport. Approval must be sought from the Prime Minister's Office for any other use of the State Crest.

The National Coat of Arms or State Crest consists of a shield with a white crescent moon and five white stars against a red background. Red symbolises universal brotherhood and equality of men; white, purity and virtue. The five STARS represent the ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality. Supporting the shield are a lion on the left and a tiger on the right. The lion represents Singapore and the tiger represents the island's historical links with Malaysia. Below the shield is a banner inscribed with the Republic's motto, "Majulah Singapura" ("Onward Singapore").

The Coat of Arms or State Crest was unveiled on 3 December 1959 together with the National Flag and the National Anthem at the installation of the Yang di-Pertuan Negara at the City Hall steps.

This photo was taken in Bali, 2006, at Hard Rock Cafe, just next to our hotel opposite the Kuta Beach. We did went in and spend some time there.

This last photo was taken just a few weeks ago, when I went with a friend to the historical Fort Canning Park for a photoshoot. STAR burst effect, still qualified under this meme, don't you think so?

For more of the STARS do drop by Carly's site.
