Friday My Town Shoot Out: SKYLINES

This week's theme is chosen by KATE

"My topic is up to bat this week and I picked Skylines. One of my favorite things to see when I go to a new city is the look of their skyline - and for me, skylines can be the look of a small-town Main Street or the giant buildings of a huge city's downtown or a field full of corn. What is the "skyline" that you think of when someone mentions your town?"

This is Singapore skyline, all dotted with highrise buildings.

Around the Central Business District, just next to the Raffles  MRT Station.

More skyscrappers around the Singapore Flyer.

Viewed from the Singapore Flyer capsule, the world's largest  observation wheel, 165 meters of the ground.

The 3 buildings with cranes at the top ( on the right) are the Marina Bay Sands, a world class luxury integrated resort and casino with convention and exhibition facilities,  restaurants , retail outlets and a museum, still under construction. It's slated to be fully operational by next year.

With a land area of only 637.5 sq meters for more than 4 millions population, we have no where to expand except upwards towards the sky, and   roads, MRT track going underground.

Theater by the bay along Singapore River, called the Esplanade but more commonly known to the local as the 'durian' with it's thorny shape roof.

All very nice, esp the last colourful one. How did you take the first photo? lie down on the ground?

You ,ust come to Auckland again. I will take you to my fav places.

The three buildings of the Casino foesn't seem very auspicious, have you heard what the Feng Shui masters say?

Beautiful photography of a gorgeous city skyline! Finally buildings are being constructed with a eye to character instead of just utility.

Whoosh! What views. From the dynamic first shot to the exquisite night colors. Oddly, I was not expecting much from the skykline theme and yet I'm getting a real feeling for places people live. Singapore is far more beautiful than I thought!

I'm blown away by your skylines. Truly spectacular. Just love the dancing cranes! They look so free up there all by themselves!
