ABC Wednesday: X

X is for Xiphidium Caeruleum.

This Xiphidium  Caeruleum has white flowers followed by orange fruits.
The genus name "Xiphidium" means "Gladiolus-like". The species name "caeruleum" comes from the Latine for "blue".

The vigorous attractive foliage plants grows to 1 Meter  in height with softly arching fans of deep green leaves and attractive white flower held high above the foliage for all to  to see. It has a glorious clumping effect and best grown in part of full shade.

Very pretty! DO you eat the fruit or is it just for show?

Great choice for "X". It is a beautiful flower. I knew there had to be something in botany, but I don't know my flowers well enough to have even known where to stop

Thanks for stopping by!

I guess it's normal colour is blue, then? How interesting! It looks lovely, but I think you must mean it grows higher than 1cm .. maybe 1m?

Sounds like the sort of plant I need, because much of my garden is in shade. I must look out for it. :)
