Friday My Town Shootouts: Sounds

This week's theme for the Friday My Town Shoot-out is sounds - chosen by NanU from Aubière in France.

Being in a city, there's no escape of the traffic congestion and it's noise. My apartment block is just next to a busy Pan- Island Expressway and I can hear traffic zooming pass at all hours, luckily the block is not parallel to the road , and I'm on the further end  , so the noise is slightly muted.

Grass-cutter working on the road divider of a busy road, oblivious to the sounds of passing traffic.

A train approaching the elevated Ang Mo Kio Station.

Being an island, we're surrounded by the sound of waves splashing the white sandy beach.....

with ships and boats passing by each day...the smaller boat is the ferry service that linked between Singapore and the islands of Batam and Bintan, Indonesia.

There's a military airbase nearby, I can hear the helicopters passing by very often.

Man made waterfall in Botanic Garden.

Human traffic at a busy shopping centre, which in turn generate the noise from the cashier's till! We have too many shopping centres here with sales going on almost forever!

I remember in the bird park, they say, The biggest man made water fall. This one in the Botanical is so beautiful. Sound of falling water is so soothing.

Imagine yourself taking PSLE again, and the time goes tick tick .

Your waterfall shot is beautiful!

I love your first shot - and the last. Such a busy place, it would have to be noisy! And, I agree, the waterfall is lovely.

I love the waterfall but isn't it sad that the first noise for so many of us has been traffic!

What a beautiful shopping center! I think I would be ok with all the people noise, if I could look at that beauty!

I just love the sound of the ocean - thanks for reminding me! And if money is the blood that makes the economy go 'round, the more noise at the shopping mall the better.
Fabulous shootout!

Yes, the waterfall shot is beautiful...and I like the train shot. I like all of them really. And they carry the theme perfectly. This is the fifth shoot I've visited this morning and realize that I took a lazy way out with mine.

This is a great post because it tells so much about your city!

I can hear all of those pictures. We get helicopters passing overhead several times a week. Their powerful motors cause everything in the house to shake.

That's a sound I know only too well!

I love the water shots, and the sound of running water is one of the most soothing in the world, isn't it?

Boy, this really re-created the noise of city dwelling for me, especially that grass cutter next to the traffic. I would like a ride on that cool train. And to sit by the waterfall.

Boy Jama, you really got out there in the heart of the jungle of the hustle, bustle, and noise didn't you!

I have to get out to a zoo when it warms up! Well I live in one, ha! But not the animals I want to visit...

I still marvel at the idea for the Friday Shoot Out - the fact that we get to visit each week and learn about each other's neighbourhoods. Now I know you have a LOT of traffic around you! Have a great weekend.
