Chapteh is a traditional Asian game in which players aim to keep a heavily weighted shuttlecock in the air using their feet and not hands. The game, which goes by many different names in different countries, may be rules-based on a court similar to badminton and volleyball , or be played artistically, among a circle of players in a street or park, with the objective to keep the shuttle 'up' and show off skills.
In recent years, the game has gained a formal following in Europe , the United States and elsewhere.
This game have survived for thousands of years and it is still being occasionally played by the kids nowadays but of course not as popular as the electronic games everyone has.

I remember seeing kids play a game like that when I lived in Mexico. I was always facinated by it too.
Shame the electronic games are taking over, kids need to get out more!
Sorry Jama, I was on my business account when I commented. My entry can be found here: http://monica-frameofmind.blogspot.com/
I have never seen that ! I didn't like any games with balls or other stuff, a little feather ball I played. We were a lot outside too, but then with our dolls in a little pram or just playing games without toys. The appartments were far too small just after war in Germany that it was rather impossible to play inside !
Tiger to welcome the new year? ;p
It's a bit like juggling, isn't it? I used to juggle midgets with my hands and feet back in my circus days.
Loved learning about the game--so interesting!!
Sounds like Chapteh is a lot healthier to play then video games. Being outside and moving is a good thing...
Hi Jama :)
Goodness, I don't remember hearing about this game, but it sounds like a lot of fun! I wonder if I am too old to learn how to play it!? LOL. Cute. I just love the tiger in the background, he looks cuddly like my tabby tiger Dylan. :) I wish the old fashioned games were as popular as the new fangled ones are. There was nothing quite like those cool kid games on summer days. :)

It looks like the shuttlecock would be a challenge to play with. I like the tiger in the picture, too.
Cool! And I like the older games better than today's computer games anyway!
