Tropical fruit - Starfruit.
Starfruits or Carambolas are best consumed when ripe, when they are yellow with a light shade of green. It will also have brown ridges at the five edges and feel firm. An overripe fruit will be yellow with brown spots.
The fruit is entirely edible, including the slightly waxy skin. It is sweet without being overwhelming and extremely juicy. The taste is difficult to compare, but it has been likened to a mix of papaya, orange and grapefruit all at once.
Starfruit is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C and low in sugar, sodium and acid. It is also a potent source of both primary and secondary polyphenolic antioxidants.

I am beginning to see star fruit more than just occasionally in the groceries in my area. Thanks for the description. Now I will know what to expect when I get one.
Great pictures. I'll have to run out and buy a star fruit for the kids. I think they'll enjoy it.
great photos of a wonderful fruit!
Hmmm. Thanks for the explanation and description! I haven't tried it, but now I think I might! I need low acid fruits, and the taste sounds good - I don't much care for papaya, but mixed with orange and grapefruit it might be quite nice! And all those yummy antioxidants and polyphenols - I could certainly make use of them!
Jummie , that lookes tasty !
Great macros.
Great macros, you really captured the juiciness of the fruit. I love starfruit but I rarely see it here.
The Road to Here
Delicious, juicy photos.
Beautiful photos!
I like to position star fruit slices on the inside wall of a glass bowl, then fill the bowl with watermelon chunks, apple slices and blueberries. It's a July 4 tradition at my house - red white and blue, with stars.
I have never tried one, maybe I should. I love your photos!
