Bubbles on my teh tarik.
Teh tarik (literally pulled tea ) is a hot tea beverage which can be commonly found in restaurants, outdoor stalls and coffee-shops in Malaysia, Singapore , Brunei and India. Its name is derived from the pouring process of "pulling" the drink during preparation. The mixture is poured back and forth repeatedly between two vessels from a height, giving it a thick frothy top. This process cools the tea to drinking temperatures, and helps to thoroughly mix the tea with the condensed milk. It is also done to give the tea a better flavour.
I believe this teh tarik was brought in by the Indian Immigrants after the world war 2 , it has since become part of our food culture.

Mmmmm, that teh tarik looks good. Just hope it's "kurang manis"! ;b
How interesting. It looks like something I might like.

i remember my grandmother doing the same process of "pulling" but it was coffee. i had no idea the purpose of that process is to cool it down.:p thank you!
I would love to have one tall glass of that now. Nice! :)

I want my teh tarik kurang manis and tarik panjang-panjang berkali-kali until it is frothing like beer!

carey at new horizons
Awesome "bubbles"!
Perfect. I also love kopi tarik.
It's good that we incorporate new things into our cultures as we learn from new people in our midst.
I have never heard of that practice so thanks for sharing and the photo is excellent.
Great photo! I'd love to try that tea - it looks and sounds delicious.
Thanks for visiting mine and have a great weekend.

Love the bubbles! I bet it tastes good too. :0)
Next year I am going to hatch a fool proof plan to have three suckling pigs. LOL
Wasn't my Red Riding Hood cute? I had to put a blind on her so she can't see that I am a wolf.
I actually had teh Tarik only once. I was fascinated by the way they make it, but the tea doesn't taste much different.
I let my students make milk shake and there was a lot of bubbles. I didn't think the bubbles would show up in the photo, so I didn't take it. I didn't take the bubbles as their mustache because I am not allowed too.
yes, those eyes are my students. i am not allowed to post their photos. i took their photos for a project. By just posting their eyes, I hope nobody can identify them and I won't get into trouble. These are eyes of UN. children from all over the world. Yes, some are very chantek.
They had fun mixing the different parts of the body, and every time they refer to it. They have a good laugh.
1 teh tarik for me please!! :)
Other than teh tarik, I also like the teh alia :P
Lovely to see the way the teh is being 'pulled'. I enjoy it myself, with less sugar. as we say, 'kurang manis!'
