ABC Wednesday: O

Oishi ( delicious) Osaka styled Okonomiyaki.

Okonomiyaki  is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning "what you like" or "what you want", and yaki meaning "grilled" or "cooked".
The batter is made of flour,  water or dashi, eggs and shredded cabbage, and usually contains other ingredients such as green onion, meat , octopus, squid, shrimp, vegetables, kimchi. Okonomiyaki is sometimes compared to an omelette or a pancake and may be referred to as "a Japanese pancake" or even "Osaka soul food."
Cooked okonomiyaki is topped with ingredients that include Otafuku/Okonomiyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce but thicker and sweeter), aonori (seaweed flakes), katsuobushi (bonito flakes) and Japanese mayonnaise.

These are one of my son's favorite food and he regularly prepared them for the family.

A very important ingredient in my cooking, Onions.

So we both featured Japanese O food. I did no try the octupus balls. But I remember eating the Chinese red little octopus.

Is Fandi Ahmad still famous?
