The white-marked tussock moth caterpillar (Orgyia Leucostigma) is easy to identify. Note the red head, black back, and yellow stripes down the sides, and you'll be able to recognize this stinging caterpillar. Many tussock moth caterpillars, including this one, are considered tree pests due to their ravenous and undiscriminating taste for woody plants.
Contact with the poisonous hairs or spines of the White marked tussock moth caterpillar can cause skin rashes. Though the catterpillar is quite beautiful, the moth is small and inconspicuous.
I saw this little beauty while walking with my son in Labrador Park, in the west coast of Singapore, one Sunday afternoon.

It was on the underside of the leaf and the son plucked off the leaf and leave it on a railing so that mummy have a better angle to photographed the catterpillar.
I was attracted to the beautiful colored pattern on it's back.
Once I was satisfied with all the shots, dear son prod the caterpillar back into a branch of the tree.
