FMTSO: 10 minutes from my home

The theme is 10 minutes from home, in any way one would like - by walking, riding a bike, car or even  on a horse. I decided on walking around my neighbourhood one morning when I need to buy a few things from the market. There's one less than 5 minutes walk away from my high-rise apartment but I decided to go to another market which is just 15 minutes walk away so  I could do this week's task at the same time.

My 10 minutes walk ended up right at the entrance of a Chinese Temple , just next to a school my younger son used to attend.

One of the caretaker there whom I asked permission to take photographs. Being in a multi-religious country, the places of worship here are always open to visitors of other faith as long as one observed the do's and don't there.

Just opposite the temple is this fire post set up under the apartment block. The Civil Defence Force officers just arrive on a Red Rhino on a standby duty there. The Rhino is like a mini fire engine which is more suitable to use in our country, as it can go over pavements and narrow stretch of land . They are usually dispatched first whenever there's a call for fire emergency.

There's adequate fire-fighting equipment at the back of the Singapore-made Rhino.

I hope you enjoy the short walk with me around my neighborhood, I look forward to seeing the other members' photo which I know for sure will be totally different view from mine!

To end up at such a beautiful temple in 10 minutes: how lucky! And i have never seen such a unique fire engine but it makes a lot of sense doesn't it?

Jama,

You are indeed a product of a peace loving multi cultural country. You exemplify what Singapore is. I am glad to have known you.

Always so interesting to see your photos! LOVE that second one!
Isn't it wonderful to be a part of the blog world where we get to see things we may never get to otherwise?

I love the little fire / cars. does make sense to have little fire trucks for the smaller streets. Everything is the USA is over-larger, bigger than life and not always practicle. I really love the second photos - great combination of colors and textures.

This is so interesting. I like the welcoming attitude in the various temples etc.

The red rhino is so tiny compared to our North American fire engines. It's a great idea. I guess things don't always have to be huge to be effective.
